1st Ripe Figs & Fabric

The first of this year's fig crop

The first of this year’s fig crop

I walked outside in a light drizzle today to check on the figs.  They are starting to ripen!  The tree with the early, smaller figs is loaded.  The other fig tree has larger, fat green figs that will ripen later.

I’m keeping this first picking to pig out on fresh.   They are superb!

I ordered fabric for the small bathroom last night.  Am going crazy trying to pick out paint colors.

But there’s a lot of prep work before I start since I need to replace part of the subfloor under the toilet, install a new toilet and lavatory and replace the flooring.  I’ve decided to keep the existing countertop.  It’s dated, but still sound and the color will work with my fabric.

I’m feeling a little under the weather, so might take a while to actually get busy on the project.  But the planning is always the toughest part for me, anyway, and I think I have most of what I want to do figured out.

Please Prove You’re Not a Robot

Arghhhhhh!!!!  I have just tried several times to comment on another blog, and my “please prove you’re not a robot” numbers and letters keep getting rejected.   No offense to anyone who uses that method of deterring spammers, but it is just getting too aggravating for me to mess with!

There are several blogs that I love to read, but I give up on trying to comment on them.

That’s one thing I really love about WordPress.  Their Akismet spam killer is really good.  Once in a very long time a spam will sneak through, but it’s a rarity when one does.

Today was errands…. got the taxes done.  The first time we’ve ever gotten them done before March or April.  It feels so good to have that behind us.

Ron needs new glasses before we head to Florida again.  Maybe I can get him an appointment next week or so.

I am so antsy to do some more mods in the Casita.  Our rear dinette cushions are 5″ thick and so hard that they are very uncomfortable to sit on.  I came so close today to buying more fabric and ordering some better-suited foam.  But I was a very good girl and stuck to my budget and just said no!  😀

Sneak Preview

Former small dinette is now a single bed.

Just thought I’d give you a sneak preview of the new upholstery.  Picture it with bright coral throw pillow accents, a nice piece of fabric wall art on the blank wall, and valances to match the seat fabric.

It’s slow going and I’m panicking hoping I get everything done in time to leave for Florida this Saturday!

Got the Fabric

Today I spent the morning at the doctor’s office, then spent the afternoon shopping for supplies for redecorating the Casita.

I found some GORGEOUS coordinating upholstery fabric at 1/3 the price at a little shop in Carrollton today.

I haven’t completely worked out all the details of how I’m going to do the new bed cushions, but have the basic plan worked out.

Tomorrow I’ll finish vacuuming all the ceiling and wall carpet and scrubbing the interior, just so it meets my standards for CLEAN.  Then Wednesday I’ll plan on beginning the upholstering.
