Commitment and persistence.
I am trying to face going home tomorrow “with the grace of a woman, and not the grief of a child.”
Once we leave here tomorrow morning, we will be plunged into a maelstrom of tasks, chores, medical appointments, etc. and probably won’t even have time to think for a few days.
Then the real work starts.
I had planned to redo the bathrooms a year or so ago. My normal procedure is to research how to do projects, watch Youtube videos to learn techniques, then plunge in over my head and eventually end up with a decent job done.
That doesn’t work anymore. I learned I simply don’t have the physical strength to do carpentry and remodeling anymore.
So those projects remain undone. And if we are to sell the place, the kitchen counters also need to be redone.
So my job for the foreseeable future will be scheduling handymen to do the work as I can afford each project. I can’t afford to hire professionals. Hopefully I can find some gifted, reliable handymen.
But back to dreams of fulltiming…

That was pure fun to me… and the wash smelled so fresh after drying in the sun and breeze.
But the real world calls, and we will answer tomorrow.

Just a thought – check with a few realtors before you determine that this work must be done before the property is listed. I was convinced we would have to go through much DIY hell before our house went on the market but … (thank God!) I was dead wrong.

/ March 22, 2015I will check, Kim, but there are things that have been so neglected that they must be fixed — for my conscience’s sake if nothing else.
My sister Gail told me essentially the same thing — her realtor told her “it is what it is.” So she did a lot of painting and prettying that wasn’t necessary. Her buyers had already decided they wanted the house before they even saw the inside.
I’m hoping that by next fall, when the place is in good shape, that a nature lover will see it when the deer come out of the woods and will feel they must have it! It could happen! 🙂

/ March 23, 2015It was a fantastic trip and now you have a goal to keep you busy. It will be nice to have more room to stretch out for a while. I always hated to come home until I got here. Even Fred loves the bigger space, he runs from one end to other for a couple days. But Oh how I love to leave again. I wouldn’t spend to much on the fixes. Sometimes a few fixes make a better price point. But one never knows what the new owners would change anyway.
