We drove over 3 hours yesterday through heavy fog and driving rain on what was supposed to be a 2 hour trip. Today is mostly cloudy, but sunshine is on the way.
Today’s high is 74 and the low tonight 58. But it’s going to get down into the 60’s for a few days. With the humidity today it felt steamy to me, but Ron was comfortable. The mosquitos seem to be targeting only me!
But I’ll take muggy and buggy in return for all the beauty around us!
We are at Magnolia Park in Apopka, Florida. I hesitated about booking a site here because Apopka is not a town you
want to be out in after dark. But the park has locked gates and video surveillance, and it had reservations available. It feels safe to me now. When we need to go out after dark, we’ll go to nearby Ocoee. It’s beautiful and (relatively) safe.
The park has several peacocks wandering around the day use area. Sheba would love to play with one! Only her leash keeps her out of trouble. 🙂
We went ahead and booked two weeks here. After we leave, we have reservations at Salt Springs until February 4. Then we’ll driveway camp with family… and see where else we can score reservations.
I am steadfastly refusing to think about going home. But our bank debit and credit cards expire in March, so that will present its own deadline.

/ January 13, 2015So glad you’re finding places and stretching out your Casita time as much as possible! (Beautiful pictures, as always!)

/ January 13, 2015I was hoping we could find someplace in Central Florida because it’s usually significantly warmer here than North Florida. So mission accomplished — for a while anyway.
Glad you enjoyed the pictures. I really do enjoy sharing them. 🙂

/ January 13, 2015Just caught up reading your recent posts….last one I read before my mishaps was when you where at Gail’s new Home. Wow…you have covered some territory and magnificent CG’s…I am envious…I thinking I need to do a trip covering the Panhandle and western side….only place close to the area that I’ve been is Cedar Key…which I enjoyed…you have had your share of rain, but it seems like it hasn’t “dampened” your spirits…hopefully Ron is over his cold….BTW your photo’s are terrific…I especially like those “gnarly tree” photo’s…Safe Journey and Happy New Year to Ms Sharon and Ron…Horst sends

/ January 13, 2015Horst, this has been the best winter of my life so far. It’s how I hope to spend all of them for as long as I can.
I wish you would have had a happier new year’s celebration. But I hope the rest of your year makes up for the slow start. 🙂

I wish you could stay out as long as your heart desires – which sounds like forever.

You are brave — or at least don’t let your fears stop you from doing what you want to do!

/ January 13, 2015Enjoy your blog so much! Just one question. I live in Calif. and have never camped in a COE park. Do you have full hook-up most of the time? You always have such beautiful sites.

/ January 13, 2015Linnith, whether COEs have full hookups varies from place to place.
Some of the Georgia parks are being upgraded to full hookups. Some are water and electric only. And some places I’ve checked have only primitive sites (like North Carolina and Tennessee, if I remember correctly.)
The best thing to do is go to the Army Corps of Engineers website. It’s not a very user friendly site, but you can see what kinds of amenities (or lack thereof) each COE campground offers. Then you can go to rvparkreviews.com and see how others have rated it.
Where we are staying now is an Orange County park.
And I am so glad you like my blog. I love sharing and it makes me very happy when I know someone enjoys it!

/ January 13, 2015Such pretty flowers and a very large RV Park from the pictures, nice. To bad the banks won’t forward you cards to maybe your sisters or you mom’s place. Then you could stay out so much longer.

/ January 13, 2015It is beautiful here, Jo. I bet it’s stunning when all the flowers are in full bloom. But I’ll pass on the summer heat and bugs!
Well, we have to be home in time to file our taxes. Then we’ll have to stay home in the summer to keep the grass mowed.
I’m just so happy we have this trip to remember and look forward to doing it again next winter!
