Since we’ll be leaving tomorrow, we spent most of the day puttering around, cleaning…and cooking and eating!
I have the world’s worst sense of direction. Today I got lost and walked in circles until I finally found a landmark I recognized. I was pooped, but Sheba was more than happy to pull me along behind her. I did see parts of the park I would have missed if I hadn’t gotten lost.
The park has several different picnic areas. All of them are beautiful. But the one that intrigued me most was the colony of thatched roof shelters. They have gone to a lot of effort to make it feel inviting and welcoming here.
I think this is a campground that we will revisit on future Florida trips.

/ November 16, 2014My son is camping at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park right now. Looks like it isn’t that far from Ocean Pond.

/ November 16, 2014Hi, Judie. That is great that he is down here! I haven’t been there since the 70’s when it was just Hanna Park. But I remember it as being beautiful. I hope he is having a great time there. Is he snowbirding, or just down here on a quick vacation trip?

/ November 16, 2014Neither one. He lives in Miami Springs. He’s just up there in his trailer for the weekend. It was having some warranty work done on it in Jacksonville so guess the decided to try it out before dragging it all the way home – again!

/ November 16, 2014I also suffer from severe orientation syndrome, (just made that up!). If I go anywhere and make more than one turn, can’t retrace my path. And it runs in our family….some deficit gene. Glad you found your way home!
Must put Stephen Foster on our to do list!

/ November 16, 2014I like your word! I will probably borrow it. 🙂
It has something to do with my vertigo and balance problems, I think. I remember that we both got disoriented on the trail at Ft. Pickens.
I think you would probably like this park… at least for a couple of days. It has that stately old-South feel to it.

/ November 16, 2014I love the huts, to bad they aren’t in the camping section that would be so cool. Glad you found your way back. Did you ask Sheba to find daddy?

/ November 16, 2014Some times she will point with her nose when I ask her where Daddy is, but she was no help today. She was too busy trying to scent out ground moles. 🙂

/ November 17, 2014iPhone has an app called MapMyWalk that shows your walk on the map, tells you how far you walked, etc. I can’t remember whether you have an iPhone or an Android, sorry. If you have Android, check to see if they have this app and, if not, there’s bound to be an equivalent app. Maybe the Technomedia folks could tell you on their blog. If you get it, try it out for awhile then let your followers know what you think of it.
