Around Ocean Pond

pavilion at swimming beach

It’s even more beautiful than I remembered it here at Ocean Pond.  It’s spacious, clean, and well-maintained.  The picnic pavilion at the swimming beach is new since I was here last.

A water only site

I met the other Casita owners today.  They just bought their 2003 Casita a month ago and are doing a great job of breaking it in.  They’ve been to the Blue Ridge Mountains, camped at Cherokee (not knowing there was a Casita Rally there), so lucked into the last couple of days of that.  Then they went to South Carolina, and are now here in Florida.

The weather has been perfect.  Sunny and warm.  Today got up to 81, tomorrow might reach 70, then a few more days in the 70’s before it drops into the 60’s.

The whole campground is attractive, but the water-only sites  are the most beautiful.  They are huge and each site is well screened with vegetation for privacy.

There’s a little store nearby with a deli.  I haven’t seen it, but the guys bring back chicken, burgers and biscuits from it.  Today Ron brought me a huge 1/2 pound burger!  I ate half and the other half will be lunch tomorrow!

I took these photos with my phone camera.  They all come out under  saturated, so I have to edit them all.  And low light (indoor) photos turn out way too soft.  The reviews and customer ratings all raved about this camera.  So I’m trying to determine whether my disappointment is due to the camera or the operator!  🙂

  4. Looks like a really nice place to relax and enjoy. Yes the white paintbrush is different from any I have seen before. That hamburger looks a lot better than the one I had today.
    Enjoy your trip

Sounds like you have perfect camping weather. Sunny and warm beats cold and rainy every time!

    • Sorry, Judy. It’s Ocean Pond Campground in the Osceola National Forest.

The weather is perfection! When it gets like your last trip, I’ll be heading further south — or hibernating!

    • Horst, I had to increase the saturation so that photo matched what my eyes saw. Glad you liked it. I liked it, too!

At this point we are wishing we never had to go home again. 🙂

  7. I can see why you wish you never had to go home again, Fix that !! FT is Great if/when you can make it happen. But those weekend and thre to four day trips, remember many great times myself. Enjoy

    • FT is so tempting sometimes, Wayne. But I wonder if I’ll feel the same way in a couple of months. In the past I have always been glad to get home. But the lure of not going home is getting stronger.

But for now we are just enjoying the weather, the scenery and the family, and trying not to think of anything more than today. (But not always succeeding!) 🙂

That is such a beautiful campground!! You really have me yearning to get out with the Casita. I think we have been in a deep quandary since our son got married and I got my Factor Five Leiden Mutation diagnosis. You know, “now what do we do with the rest of our lives” type questions. We came back here (LaGrange) because he needed us for a “time.” That is why we stopped full-timing. Now we look at each other and wonder if we should move, stay put or what???? Sorry…didn’t mean to unload 🙂
Do you make reservations at Ocean Pond? It is on my list and I thank you for getting me more motivated
You guys continue to enjoy!! Love reading your blog!!

    • Gerri, life can throw us curve balls that upset our whole apple cart. Becoming an empty-nester plus dealing with the diagnosis was a double whammy.

It would probably be good to get back out traveling as you can. Hopefully the old happiness will return.

No, no reservations at Ocean Pond. So don’t arrive on a weekend if you must have electricity. Those sites fill up fast. However, the water-only sites are beautiful and always have vacancies. So if the electricity loop is filled, you could camp out at a non-electric site until the weekenders leave. (Right now the campground is filled with hunters.)

Here’s wishing you a new window on joy and gladness.
