Today rated up there around 10 on the nasty day scale. Grey, rainy, windy and cold.
So we went to Hobby Lobby. Ron indulged me as I meandered around in there for a really long time.
I got some more of my favorite yarn — Hobby Lobby’s own *I Love This Yarn* brand. Soft, silky and feels so good against my skin. So now I can make some pretty caps. I also got a chemo hat pattern book for ideas to keep me from getting bored.
I’ve had a couple of people ask me what type of mandoline I used to make my zucchini pasta in the previous post. I’ve tried several ways. The most unsatisfactory was the hand held peeler style julienne strip maker.
The very best is one that is simple, non-adjustable and sturdy. It works quickly and cleanly. I think Amazon calls them Japanese vegetable mandolines.

/ March 6, 2014I got a mandolins as a present several years ago. First, I as like, “eh, what’s the big deal”. But, as I used it, I started to like it more and more – now, I think they are great!!
Pretty yarn!

/ March 6, 2014I also have one that slices different thicknesses. It’s great when I remember to use it. But usually I am almost through chopping and slicing when I realize I could have used it. Maybe if I put it out on the counter where I can see it, I will use it more!
I love yarn. It represents so many possibilities to me! 🙂

/ March 6, 2014OG, my ex did the most beautiful knitting you ever saw. He fell off a telephone pole when he was 19 and was in bed in a body cast for months. His grandmother taught him to knit to keep him from going crazy while he was stuck in bed.

/ March 6, 2014Nice soft colors. I need to get back to Hobby Lobby. I only went once and it was closed. Michael’s is having quite a sale on yarn this week. Maybe I will run over there tomorrow afternoon or Sat.

/ March 6, 2014I used to love Michael’s, only there isn’t one in our area. I really do like Hobby Lobby better, though. Now I need to start making the valances I bought the fabric for the other day, but I have started on a pink hat tonight. 🙂

/ March 7, 2014Wow…that yarn will make lots of caps…..reminds me of the time many years ago when my father passed away and Mom wanted time for herself to reflect….ended up spending 6 months making very ornate cloth Christmas Balls…hundreds of them…I still have some of them, then the time I was out of commission for 3 months…ended up making dozens of photo calendars and Christmas cards…gave them to various churches having silent auctions pre Christmas…..things we will do to keep our “Minds” gainfully “employed”….Take care and hopefully we will have a “Spring” SOONEST!!!…Horst sends

/ March 7, 2014I hadn’t thought of it that way, Horst… keeping our minds gainfully employed while we endure delayed gratification to our hopes and plans. Makes sense. I gave away tons of silver jewelry to a church to sell one time because I liked making it more than people liked buying it. 🙂

/ March 7, 2014OH look at all those beautiful colors. That yarn is super super soft….I’ve felt it! I have a friend that makes boobies, dolls, happy hats, etc. I bet she has made thousands. Takes me days to crochet and my stitches never line up. Finished the dog blanket…Bella will never know the difference HA! SPRING is almost here….seeing growth down here…even a mushroom! Of course always think of you! Here until May 3 now….MAYBE LOL!!!

/ March 7, 2014I saw all the felting supplies in Hobby Lobby the other day and thought of you, too.
I should make Sunny another sweater. The one I bought him is sloppy and not very warm.
Our plans are totally up in the air right now. We are in a mad push to pay off our bills. If all goes according to plan, we will be debt-free by October except for the mortgage.
That will free up a lot of camping money! 🙂
