Carla and Jerry stopped by this morning to say goodbye on their way into Montgomery to see some of the historical sites.
I had fallen asleep last night and slept like a rock –until around 12:00 a.m. Then I couldn’t get back to sleep until around 5:30 this morning. So I had a bit of trouble getting up and moving this morning. When they stopped by to say goodbye, I stumbled outside looking pretty disheveled.
I sure hope they don’t remember me that way!
We were planning to go to one of the COE campgrounds farther south, but ended up deciding on Whitetail Ridge on West Point Lake. I’m glad we did. This place is gorgeous!!!
We are surrounded on three sides by water, so get to see the sun set over the lake, and also enjoy the afterglow reflected off the clouds and water behind our trailer.
It’s a little cool for camping. I think we might head into town tomorrow and see if we can find an inexpensive screen room with a wind break so we can enjoy sitting outside while we are here.

/ November 8, 2013This may be a good time of year to find a screen room on sale. Your site looks gorgeous; you find the best places to camp! Stay warm.

/ November 8, 2013It’s a beautiful place and cheap with our senior discount. 🙂
I saw an inexpensive screen room on the Walmart website that has good reviews. We plan to drive to Valley, AL (closest Walmart) tomorrow and pick it up there.

/ November 8, 2013Fabulous photos! I hope you campsite is as deserted as it looks. Sunny’s looking very dashing even though he’s only half-clothed. Hope our paths will cross soon!

/ November 8, 2013I asked the guy at the gate for site recommendations. This one is his favorite because it is on the water and also faces toward the woods. It does feel private!

/ November 8, 2013Jerry, we went by the sites you have reserved at Gunter Hill. They are very nice. Would be no trouble at all doubling up on them if you get an overflow crowd.
Whitetail Ridge is marvelous. We stayed on the first loop years ago and were not impressed. But this one is superb!

I bought my screen room from Walmart on line because they didn’t have it in the store. Need to pick up something to block the wind yet. Might just use painters drop cloths or tarps.
Have fun with the screen room.

/ November 8, 2013Jo, I checked online and a Walmart 23 miles from here has the screen room in stock. We will probably also wing it with a tarp for wind or rain for the time being. It won’t look very impressive, but this is a pretty laid-back campground and I think it will be okay.
Looking forward to being able to sit out of the wind!

/ November 8, 2013Thanks, Lynne. Little Sunny is my baby. I love it when people say nice things about him! 🙂
It’s supposed to be cold tomorrow, then decent for a few days, then get really cold. We will probably leave a day early to escape the cold. But I’m so glad we grabbed this time while we could!

/ November 9, 2013I’ve still never quite gotten used to looking out the Casita’s windows and seeing people I’ve enjoyed camping with replaced by others. Actually, I haven’t gotten used to camping friends flowing in and out of my life so quickly. It seems like they are supposed to stay “just a little bit longer.” 🙂
I miss you, too! But I am certain we will meet again. Looking forward to your photos from Ft. Pickens! 🙂

I am looking out my Casita’s dining room windows over a placid lake reflecting late fall colors — and dreaming of never having to go home again. 🙂

/ November 9, 2013After opening up the screen room today found out it isn’t rain proof. But they have spray and I also will put a tarp over the tip when putting it up to act as a rain bonnet. Maybe you are looking at a different one anyway there are so many to choose from.

/ November 9, 2013Jo, I decided to wait till we get home and order one from Amazon. Instead of buying an expensive one, I will buy a fairly inexpensive one and use a tarp for rain or wind protection.
I have used that waterproofing silicone spray before and it does help.
I would REALLY like the small 10′ x 10′ Paha Que model, but I don’t want to spend that kind of money right now.
