The AC Man & Plans Gone Awry

Our house air conditioner froze up again yesterday evening.  We have already had a cooling unit replaced.  And they put in a new blower two or three weeks ago.

Now they need to order another part that will be here in “a few days.”

When we go camping in summer, we always set the thermostat to 85 while we are gone.  So I asked the repairman if we could do that, and he said, “I wouldn’t go camping now.”

So, our trip is postponed.

And it’s still raining.  🙂

😦 I hope it gets fixed soon and doesn’t cost too much. How disappointing to be delayed again. But who knows, maybe the weather will be better when you finally go.

    • Marcia, it will be covered under warranty. YAY!

Actually I’ve had an unsettled feeling about going camping this week anyway. I’m sure there is a reason. 🙂

  2. Now that’s a bummer!! We picked up our Casita in Cincinnati Sunday and we have been camping our way home. Well anyway, long story short,it has been raining the entire trip!! No fun!!

    • Well, I’m thrilled that you got the Casita. Can’t wait to see your photos! But I also empathize with rainy camping being no fun.

Instead of the soggy mountains, when we finally do get out of here, we plan to head far enough west to escape the daily rain.

If you get uncomfortable just hop in that camper and crank up the air conditioning. Glamp in your driveway!

    • Mary Lou, we would DEFINITELY do that if needed. In fact, the Casita is also our escape pod in case of natural disasters.

Fortunately, the house AC works as long as we keep the fan running on manual. If we put it on auto, the fan doesn’t come on and the unit ices up. So it’s just an inconvenience, not a real problem — except that it’s delaying our getting out! 🙂

Oh Im so sorry…posting with phone. No coverage so into library with a long post tomorrow. Raining again…darn it. 90s finally just broke here. Maybe a reason for this madness. I turn table too hard and put hole in dinette table floor..duct tape. Monday call from skin doc..cancer from hole she cut in my leg last week. Whole story tomorrow..I’m guessing perfect weather next week can u go then? Hope so…mods were great…

    • Oh my…. the weather needs an attitude change, don’t you think?

The Casita is going to get dings (although each new one breaks my heart). Just call them beauty marks and don’t sweat it until you can get them fixed. Maybe a small throw rug in the meantime? 🙂

Yikes! What kind of cancer? Some are easily treatable. Will you have to go back to your doctor in Illinois? I am SO sorry you are having to deal with this! I will definitely be following your blog!

We’ll go as soon as they get the part and install it. Couldn’t tell me exactly when it will arrive.

  5. BUMMER!!! Why is it a house is so much more of a PITA when things go wrong versus our beloved RVs? I hear ya about that unsettling feeling. I’ve learned to trust that little voice too.

    • Kim, I am really beginning to resent owning a home. If we ever live somewhere else, I want a nice rental somewhere so the problems are the landlord’s — not mine! Our roof has developed a small leak, too, so as soon as we get back from the next trip, we’ll have to bite the bullet and get a new one now instead of waiting until next year as planned.

What was weird was I was relieved when the repairman told me we couldn’t leave the house until the AC is fixed. I am wondering if the unprecedented rain has weakened some of the roads in the mountains? Anyway, there is definitely a reason we weren’t supposed to go now.

And I do handle delayed gratification a lot better than I did a few years ago. I’d have been pitching fits back then! 😀

  6. Did you say rain? It hasn’t stopped raining here in weeks. But the truck is packed for trip one. Yes it poured right after I started packing.
Why does something always have to go wrong when all the plans are in place. You’ll get there and hope it will be nice an sunny for you.

    • I’m not worried. I know it’s just a matter of a few days and we’re outta here! 😀

After I read your post about selling your trailer and looking for a Capri Camper, I looked up Capri Campers. They are nice! You could go anywhere in one of them!
