At the edge of the pond. No alligators here, but a juvenile raccoon raids the apple snails (escargot) every night.
Today was a visit and do chores and laundry day. So I’ll just share pictures of our beautiful free campground here at Ann and Cecil’s. Driveway camping at its best!
Wild blackberries are budding
Cecil’s greenhouse, built on skids so he can move it with his tractor for optimal sun exposure as the seasons change.
Cookie and Sheba. Sheba has calmed down enough that Cookie enjoys her company now!

Evening primrose. They bloom after the sun goes down and all parts are edible. Cecil has a field of them!
Look closely and you can see fish in the pond. They must have forgotten my attempts to catch them last visit! 🙂

/ April 13, 2013I asked Cecil why they were called Egyptian Walking Onions. He said he didn’t know, but he thinks it’s because the tiny plants at the top eventually fall over and start a new plant… thus they eventually “walk” in a widening circle. He dug these up from the side of the road and planted them near his pond. They shouldn’t spread too far because they like to be near water.

I’m still impressed that Sunny accepted Sheba right away. What a great photo of the two of them posing! Like two explorers! Also the owl picture is amazing! Cookie needed the diversion, also.

/ April 13, 2013Kathy, I am so glad you enjoy my posts. Sometimes I think they are so boring: ” We went to Mom’s, we went to Ann’s…..,” but the properties are beautiful and I always find new things to enjoy here.
For a long time Sunny simply tolerated Sheba, but they have bonded and are buddies now. I’m so glad. Cookie had been mourning since Beau died. It was so good to see her interacting with Sheba, especially. Ann and Cecil may get another dog so she will have a companion.
So glad you are along for the ride! 🙂

/ April 14, 2013OTR, it’s my sister’s house. I am a dabbler in wild edibles. I am always tickled to see plants I recognize or to learn new ones. Up where we live, I haven’t found wild onions. We just have tons of field garlic instead. So I was tickled to find real wild onions. 🙂
