Dog Cleaning Day

Today I came to a horrible realization.  My beautiful Casita stank!

So I bathed Sunny in the shower.  Ron asked the camp host if it would be okay to bathe Sheba at our site.  She said that the rules aren’t strictly enforced here, and she didn’t see any reason why we couldn’t.  So Sheba got a bath in a big Rubbermaid tub.

Then I scrubbed everything scrubable in the trailer, vacuumed the dog hair out of the carpet, Ron washed all the laundry, and in a couple of hours the trailer smelled decent again.

Sunny doesn’t have a doggy odor unless he is really dirty.  But Sheba does.  So it looks like we are going to have to do very frequent dog baths any time we can find a way to do it while we are out camping.  I probably need to get some of that ultra mild dog shampoo that is safe to use every day so I don’t cause doggie skin problems.

I didn’t feel well all day, so didn’t do anything (other than cleaning) except walk the dogs with Ron this evening.  Am planning on an early night, so hope I’m energetic and raring to go again tomorrow!

Too bad “yuk” finds us even in our little Eggs. Hope you are feeling better tomorrow after a good night’s sleep.

  2. Nothing worse than dog smell in a house never mind in a small space. Hope you are feeling better and don’t come down the this crud I have. It must really like living in my head because it has been staying with me for awhile.

Hoping this morning finds you back to yourself…stinks to be sick. Hoping its one of those short-lived setbacks. If anything, hopefully you washed all them germs out of the Casita…sounds like a cuddle up day with those sweet smelling pups :O)

  4. Hope you are feeling better today! Enjoy all those warm temperatures and Florida foliage.

Is Ocean Pond too far north for gators? Don’t want Sunny to become an appetizer!

    • Hi, Lynne. Feeling much better today…. thanks!

No, unfortunately we are in the middle of gator country here. I’m glad for that reason that we don’t have a lakefront campsite!

We use a ‘Furminator’ on our 55 pound pooch. We have a teardrop camper and he travels with us, so we always take it along to keep the fur to a minimum. It also keeps our cabin fresher. We bought ours at PetsMart….. they usually have a BIG sale before Christmas. Hope it helps you, too!

    • Just looked up Furminator so I could get an idea of what it was. It looks like it will help a lot! Thanks for the tip. 🙂

  6. There is also a “dry” shampoo for dogs you shou;d also be able to get it at Petco or Petsmart. Its good for those times you can’t bathe them but need to do SOMEthing! Gators?? Whew, don’t like Gators…..

    • I hadn’t thought of using the dry shampoo. It might prove to be a lifesaver in the trailer between shampoos.

      I don’t like gators either…. at all!!!
