YAY! The squirrel who constantly raided our fig trees last year must have met his demise.
We are feasting on fresh figs! I should preserve some of them, but I probably will just continue to gobble them up as fast as they ripen.
So much for the low carb diet until fig season is past! 😀

/ July 28, 2012I usually don’t like to see a critter come to a bad end, but I sure am glad that squirrel is gone! Last year I didn’t have enough figs for fig preserves, so I made orange marmalade with figs. It was superb! But I’m enjoying them fresh too much this year to do anything else with them. 🙂

/ July 28, 2012If I had a fig tree in my yard, I would probably weigh 600 pounds. You are lucky. Here in Michigan this year, it got warm (80 degrees) in March, all the fruit trees blossomed, then froze in April. We have no cherries or apples, pears or peaches. And, we’ve never EVER had figs!

Am so sorry to hear about the fruit trees not producing. I read about it on the news, but it really hammers it home when I hear from someone who is experiencing it firsthand. Sure hope you get a bumper crop next year!
