Into Every Life…..

Rainy day at East Bank

Into every life a little rain must fall….

And we’re getting our fair share!  🙂

Today was a day for doing laundry, buying a few groceries, and taking it easy.

We are so blessed that there are no (known) leaks in the trailer.  But when I was cooking lunch today, I opened the window over my bed for ventilation since we don’t have a roof vent.  Then I forgot to close the window.

Needless to say, my bed got wet.  But I’ve got the heater running and will use the blow dryer on the bed and sheets, and hopefully get it dry enough.

I’ll be very glad to get the Maxx Air window vent installed so we can leave a window open in the rain for fresh air.

Although we are a little weary of the rain, we are grateful for it.  And we’d much rather be out camping in the rain than staying home!

5:15 P.M.

The rain has stopped.  We just got back from a nice walk… but our shoes are soaked!

Fortunately our patio is concrete and is above water.  But take a look at our firepit!

We’ll definitely use the Firedancer tonight!

  1. Not being able to have the window open during rain was the only thing I didn’t like about my little Scamp (another egg camper). We finally rigged awnings out of PVC pipe and a shower curtain that could be taken down for travel, and let me open my windows all the way if I wanted to.

I’m less than 2 hours east of you and had to delay leaving for a camping trip till tomorrow because this rain made our dirt road impassable so I couldn’t get out. So I know what you are going through! Hopefully it is moving on….

    • Peggy, Scamp is ahead of Casita in the window department, I think. They do offer jalousie windows now. I sure wish Casita would!

I like the idea of the portable window awnings! It would make such a difference in how liveable the little trailers are! I’ll put that on my huge list of mods I want to do eventually!

Yes, I think the rain is moving on. We are sitting outside this evening with the little propane campfire and it’s pleasant. Hope your road will let you out tomorrow! I live on a dirt and gravel road, too. Usually it’s passable, but it gets huge holes in it after a good rain!

    • Hi, Peggy, I just remembered you have an Apex now. Do you still love it? 🙂

Here in Mission TX we’ve had an entire February of rain, including this morning! Texas sure needs it though so I’m not complaining in the least.

I like your attitude…whatever comes, just make the most of it and keep smiling! 😉

    • Hazel, I had to look at the map to see where MIssion is. You are WAY down south, aren’t you! I’m so glad you are getting rain, too. The drought last year was scary.

I handle rainy days a lot better than I used to, although several in a row get me down. I think going through a couple of serious droughts does help with attitude adjustment! 🙂

So happy for you that you’re out enjoying camping – and not letting the rain dampen your spirits. You’ve made such nice mods and your Casita looks great. We had snow and slick roads today. There’ll be no camping up here for a while. Karen in OR

    • Karen, thanks so much for the nice comments on the Casita. We have it almost fixed like we want it.

Hope you get a nice break in the weather and can get out soon. The long wait for spring can be so discouraging!

    • Glad you finally got out, JoJo, and hope your weather is beautiful today. Sounds like you’ll have a great time with your camping friends.

And running the heat strip dried the bed out completely!
