Embarrassed to Post

I am truly embarrassed to admit that yes, after saying I was going replace the floor and rebuild the Aliner, then saying I was not going to rebuild it, then saying I was, then stating emphatically I wasn’t… several times…. I am now gutting it and planning to rebuild it.

Bathroom out, refrigerator is next to go.

The economy is the reason.  I don’t DARE go into debt with the US on the verge of default.  And even if they don’t default, the debt is so unsustainable no matter what they do that we will eventually crash.

Also, I prayed about it and asked God for specific direction on whether to rebuild it or not.  The next day I was looking at campers on the net and studying floorplans when I got that awful feeling that I can only relate to the extreme mental warning I get when I am thinking about camping someplace unsafe for the night.  I have learned when I feel that warning not to try to rationalize it away, but to get out of there as quickly as I can.

Later, I walked out into the Aliner and felt the most profound sense of peace.  All of the sudden the idea of gutting it and rebuilding it didn’t seem overwhelming.  I analyzed what I actually need in a camper, and the answers are a safe place to sleep, a bathroom, a refrigerator, and a place to fix coffee and cook light meals.  And the Aliner really can have everything I need.  I had just wanted bling.

So, due to the extreme heat, I am only working on the camper for two hours a day.  I do whatever I can get done in those two hours, then call it a day.  It’s going to take a while, but I’m not on a schedule.  The only deadline I have is our trip home for Thanksgiving.  And I’m sure I’ll have it redone by then.

  1. I’m not a camper so I’m amazed that you love it so much you’ve rebuilt parts of it already. It will be whatever it be’s and you just have fun with with it! Don’t worry about anything else!

    • I just love that…. “It will be whatever it be’s….” Takes all the stress away! 🙂

And yes, I do love camping more than anything else I do in my life!

It will be better than new once you have finished it.

  2. Awe, don’t be embarrassed. When we finally find that peace about something, we go through all the motions – even two or three or four times.
I know that the future of our country looks bleak, but God has all this in control. He promises that His elect will not be begging for bread. He WILL supply all our needs. We do our part and He does His.

It sounds like the “simple” plan has warmed your heart. Happy re-doing!!!
    I am cheering you on.

  3. Gwen, I cling to those scriptures, and a bunch more like them! 🙂

I find myself trying to complicate things and make the work on the trailer too hard. I keep reminding myself to KEEP IT SIMPLE!!! If I can keep that in mind, I’ll do fine with it!

BTW, the pictures of little Chloe were precious!!!

  4. I don’t think you should be embarrassed either. Sometimes the path isn’t always clear or well lit 🙂 One day and one thing at a time and you’ll be fine. I am happy to see you back at it though!

    • JoAnne, I have your documentation of your restoration bookmarked and will refer to it frequently as I go along!

I’m refusing to think ahead about the project as a whole. Just concentrating on what I can do each day. That keeps it manageable and often, to my surprise, enjoyable!

There’s absolutely NO reason to be embarrassed when you’ve decided to go in the direction you know God is directing you to go. He always knows the best way and I’m so thankful He wants us to seek Him. It’ll be fun to see your progress. Karen in OR

    • Karen, the funny thing is that I told my sister months ago that I knew that I was supposed to rebuild it. But I fought it tooth and nail and tried to figure out all kinds of reasons that I shouldn’t/couldn’t do it because I didn’t WANT to do it!.

Now all I feel is peace and assurance that I’m doing the right thing.

Be warned, though, that the progress will be turtle speed! 😀
