The days still stretch endlessly in the nineties…. 101 was predicted today. Not sure we made it that high, as we had a blessed cloud cover. Thunderstorms have been predicted, but all we get are a few growls of thunder but no rain.
But the cloud cover keeps the heat from feeling so brutal.
I dropped my new camera and broke it last night, so will be back to using the old one that I gave to Ron. Hope he doesn’t mind. 🙂
It’s so strange contemplating a future with no camper. I’m hoping to be able to get a used one this fall. If not, maybe next spring. I am committed to NOT going into debt for another one. But the economic news makes me wonder how successful I’ll be at saving cash for one.
Camping has been my life for the past four years. I really can’t imagine a future without being able to jump in the truck and head out camping for a week…or two… or three whenever the urge strikes.
Oh, I got the “CHUNK” down on the ukulele today. I don’t like to hear it overused, but it sure is an effective percussive accent now and then in some songs.

/ June 11, 2011When we were stationary at Howard Prairie Resort – while I was working – we decided that for our well-being we needed to get away from the “work” atmosphere. We didn’t want to move the rig as that was too much trouble. So we got out the tent, air mattress, sleeping bags and whatever essentials we needed and left on my days off. We would go find a campground and pitch the tent. Our one rule was “no cooking.” Which meant we had to be somewhat close to food.
We had a ball getting away and going to places we loved.
I tell you this only to suggest other ways to do what you love – the outdoors. In Oregon, we have yurts that you can rent. Usually these are just a building with cots, heat and a table. You bring everything else.
(I agree about tents and young bodies. But that shouldn’t stop you! Air mattresses help in that department! 🙂 )
Don’t give up your dream! Work around it for now until the time comes for another rig.

/ June 11, 2011Well, I was going to suggest camping out in the yard but if tents are out, I guess that wouldn’t work. I don’t particularly like camping myself but I live in the woods and have a creek and nature. Sounds like you do too though. You’ll find something to compensate with!
